Characterized by the charm of the over 200 years old inn, welcomes in the middle of the medieval old town of Herdecke the HeimatHerz Hotel Garni its guests! Only 5 minutes from the river Ruhr and the „RuhrtalRadweg“ bicycle route and located directly on the Westphalian Jacob's Path, guests can stay overnight in the heart of Herdeckes, the "town between the Ruhr lakes".

The origins of the hotel go back to the end of the 18th century, at this place was always situated an inn with overnight accommodation. This tradition continues the team of the "Pasta Passion“ pasta manufactory with it`s chef Sabine Preuten, who iis producing artisanal pasta specialties on the ground floor of the hotel since 2005. The in-house bistro serves these specialities since 2022. In summer guests also enjoy regional and Mediterranean deli and cool drinks in the bistro's outdoor area in the pedestrian zone.

The bicycles of hotel guests can be stored in our lockable and easily accessible garage and e-bikes can be charged. The pilgrims of the Westphalian Jacob's Path receive with us the stamp of the Pilgrim Station Herdecke and are very welcome.

We have a heart for our home town

In the lovingly renovated 10 rooms of the small hotel "home stories" are told, each room is individually furnished and has a motto linked to the town and region.

In the evening hours, it gets quiet in the lively old town, so that in the new box-spring beds you can dream away. Relaxation from the stresses and strains of the day's biking, hiking or business meetings is guaranteed. The hotel is casual, jogging suits are sufficient, for example, on the 1st and 2nd floors (for the walk to the refrigerator?).

On the 2nd floor there is a kitchenette accessible to all guests with refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker (if you want to get up early, you can find the first coffee of the morning here) and hot water heater, as well as a cozy sitting area and an old pinball machine. In the refrigerator there guests will find a selection of other drinks - in case a "nightcap" is desired. Pre-orders are possible in the booking process!

Herdecke - the town between the Ruhr lakes

The two Ruhr reservoirs Harkortsee and Hengsteysee are the recreation area of Herdecke – if the small town with its charm and the many historic half-timbered houses needs it at all. Due to the proximity to the water, many water sports activities are possible: Sailing, canoeing or rowing, stand up paddling or a trip with the excursion boat "Friedrich Harkort" to Wetter and back a nice walk along the Ruhr - everything is possible!

Hiking and biking routes are very well developed and signposted, a very good bicycle service station is nearby, information material is available in the HeimatHerz. Right at the river Ruhr at the Bleichstein is also a very nice children's playground with "Wassermottkerei" (Thats dialect for „water palyground“. We are, after all here in the Ruhr area).

The proximity to the Ruhr metropolises from Dortmund to Essen and also to Hagen also offers lots of cultural possibilities and activities or in winter to a Christmas market visit, we are happy to advise you! The Herdecke train station is a whole 8 minutes walk away and also the bus connections are excellent.
